Though there was already antisemitism in Germany at this time, Jews were still treated like other Germans, and most people did not think of them any differently. The way Hitler changed how people thought about Jews was propaganda against Jews. Pictures were made public that discriminated against Jews, called them communists, and implied that Jews were inferior. For example, there was a German kids' book called The Poisonous Mushroom. it was basically a compilation of silly, childish, antisemitic lines. For example, here is one of the lines: "The Jewish nose is crooked at its tip. It looks like a six." This book may seem insignificant, but it taught kids from a very young age that Jews were inferior. The book is titled The Poisonous Mushroom because in the book, a kid's mom teaches him that Jews are like the poisonous mushroom he had just picked up. In addition, Hitler not only discriminated against Jews, but also: handicapped people, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Germans of African descent and Gypsies. The rest of the Germans were part of the "Aryan Race", and got rights as full German citizens. Hitler intended for the Aryan Race to be the perfect race, and he did this by not including these specific types of people in it.
